SAN DIEGO — The University of California, San Diego accidentally sent a welcome e-mail to about 29,000 applicants who had been rejected.Yeah, so they rejected me, accepted me (or so I thought) and then rejected me again. I already have another school I'm definitely going to, so it didn't affect me as much, but man that's sad.The e-mail sent Monday evening invited all 47,000 students who applied to an admitted students' day on campus.
UCSD Admissions Director Mae Brown apologized for the mistake today and explained that the e-mail was supposed to go to about 18,000 accepted students.

NY Building01
Sadly I didn't make it in time for my college application portfolio.
It's some building in New York, and I only had one screen shot of it so the bottom half is completely improvised (hence looking like crap). Still me just trying to get used to Maya so my grouping and coordinates and stuff are all over the place.
The rendering was based off of this excellent tutorial of the physical sun and sky feature on Maya's mental ray.

Blob Church
The front half of the church was based off a book tutorial and then the rest is improvised. It would be a cool building to have in a video game, and video games always have a blob-looking character, so I placed them all over the church.
The render style was based off of an ambient occlusion tutorial, whose link I was gonna post here but unfortunately now only leads to a 404.

Mario Kart Love Song
I know it's been a great while since this video first came out, but my friend reminded me of it today, so here it is!
+/- Lyrics
Mario Kart Love Song
V1:
You be my princess
I'll be your toad
I'll follow behind you
on rainbow road
Protect you from red shells
wherever we go
I promise.
V2:
Noone will touch us
if we pick up a star
If you spin out
you can ride in my car
When we slide together
we generate sparks
in our wheels and our hearts
Chorus:
The finish line
is just around the bend
I'll pause this game
so our love will never end
Let's go again
V3:
The blue shell is coming
so I'll go ahead
If you hang behind
it'll hit me instead
but never look back
cause I'm down but not dead
I'll catch up to you
Bridge:
Don't worry about
Bowser or DK
Eat this glowing mushroom
and they'll all fade away
Chorusx2
to the mushroom cup
and the flower cup
and the star cup
and the reverse cup
walalalalala
walalalalalawaluigiiiiii

One in 500
I modeling it right before winter break last year because I was carried away with the holiday spirit. It was when I was (and currently still) making the transition from Blender Foundation to Autodesk Maya and needed something to practice on. I decided to model something that we had made before in Blender-- Christmas trees and a snowman. They're key chains because I wanted to make something shiny on mentalray. Did you know key chain was two words?
I hate that Christmas gets less and less exciting each year you get older. I don't get the rushes of adrenaline in the middle of the night, anxious to wake up the next morning to tear open my gifts. I never "opened one present" on Christmas Eve that's a load of crap, I left them all for the day of!
Not saying that I don't enjoy Christmas at all, it's just different. It's more exciting in the sense that you get to see how people respond to your gift more than what you got; maybe I'm growing up. Why the hell am I analyzing Christmas in mid-March.
Oh yeah, the school computers were a pain during the "duplication" process. Oh, my god.

Music
I was playing around with "growing" particles (hair) from only certain faces of sphere (head), and making them lean certain directions too. This model is one of the few organic models I've ever done.

Terra Naomi
Didn't know she had an official video out...!
Anyway this is my favorite song by her called "Up Here"
+/- Lyrics
Up Here/Terra Naomi
Roll into your town and I’m walking around
Got some extra time think I’ll throw some money down
And you follow me around
and you’re asking for the time
Your asking what I found
think I’m gonna rob you blind
maybe it’s the tattoo on my arm
that I drew while I was bored waiting tables in new york
a heart and two flowers intertwined with a vine
I can see your point, I can see your point
And up here I am who I am
And if you don’t like it then fuck you, man
I’m not a thief and a whore
Please don’t follow me around next time I’m shopping in your store
And up here I’m making you aware
That if you don’t like me well I don’t care
I’ll be exactly who I am and if you got a problem with it
Well that’s your problem, man
After I’ve paid count the money that you made
Then you go to the show like to be entertained
And I get up on the stage
Trained monkey in a cage
And it’s just another day just another day
And I can see you from my place on the stage
Third row center aisle
Hot blond with you
All smiles
And you got another woman but that’s in another town
And you can’t wait til this is over
Gonna lay that honey down
And up here I am who I am
And if you don’t like it then fuck you, man
I’m not a thief and a whore
Please don’t follow me around next time I’m shopping in your store
And up here I’m making you aware
That if you don’t like me well I don’t care
I’ll be exactly who I am and if you got a problem with it
Well that’s your problem, man
And your good values taught you how to behave
Who to treat kindly and who to enslave
And like all good men you still fall to the floor
When a great big rack
And a ripe round ass
Walk through that door…
And up here I am who I am
And if you don’t like it then fuck you, man
I’m not a thief and a whore
Please don’t follow me around next time I’m shopping in your store
And up here I’m making you aware
That if you don’t like me well I don’t care
I’ll be exactly who I am and if you got a problem with it
Well that’s your problem, man

Blue gay ducks are last couple of species
There was one other female, and they decided to hook up with each other and in turn booked the extinction of their species. Sad, but they look pretty happy.

WIP: Barns & Noble Cafe
This was the time when I hung out with my sister a lot (usually just working on homework), and we would always say, "Let's go to Borders" and of course end up at Barns & Noble.
When I finished my homework early, I drew some of the stuff there and ended up modeling it on Blender. It's not quite done yet and I don't see it ever being as I have switched over to Maya.

Robot
I was trying to figure out armatures and decided to start with simple polygons.
The walk cycle that I tried animating with this guy turned out to be considerably similar to that scary woman from "The Grudge" so I have that locked up under many folders.
Yeah, it was that bad.
Still though, isn't he cute?

The Root of Three
Harold and Kumar 2 Escape from Guantanamo Bay was freaking hilarious.
And I really liked the poem Kumar wrote in it.
+/- Poem
The Root of Three
I fear that I will always be
A lonely number like root three
A three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath a vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine
For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic
I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality
When hark, just what is this I see?
Another square root of a three
Has quietly come waltzing by,
Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer
We break free from our mortal bonds
And with a wave of magic wands
Our square root signs become unglued
And love for me has been renewed
Sweet Jesus that is FUNNY
My friend showed me this at school and I was being very disruptive.
I love this game
If any of you have played Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Olimar is from the Nintendo game Pikmin.
I don't have a Wii so I've never played the one for the Wii but the N64 one was really fun. Basically, you (Olimar) crash into this unknown planet and meet these new creatures called Pikmin, and go along trying to put together your space shuttle by taking great advantage of these mindless critters.
The Red ones can withstand fire, the Blue ones can go in the water (without dying), and the yellow ones can jump really high and can carry bombs. They all have these little different things about them like the red ones (above, although it's not red) have noses, the blue ones have gills, the yellow ones have ears.
SO COOL.
You can't see in the picture, but they all start off with leaves on their heads and as you progress in the game and manage to keep them alive it grows into a bud and then later a flower, which I guess make them run faster.
Anyway, this is another one I made last year on Blender.
I have a short (unfinished) video with this Red Pikmin that I used for my second semester final but I'll upload it another time.

Desktop Computer
That plant in the back is a tomato, and yeah I know they don't grow like that. Sorry about the mouse I hate Macs but it was just way easier to model in the limited amount of time I had.
As big as a bitch the keyboard was to model, it was really fun to make. The part I had the most trouble with was the mouse and speaker chords they actually twist and turn around in the back there.
And no, the mouse isn't supposed to be facing this way.
Chess
This was a piece I did sometime last year on Blender.
I was planning on making the entire chess set, but got stuck at that little rectangular dent on the bishop piece and it wasn't until this year I found out about the boolean tool (kinda sad).
Also, I was playing around with reflectivity and transparency and such.

Big Dog
My sister sent me this video, and I think I got a six-pack from laughing too much.
I showed it to my friend and she wasn't laughing at all so I guess not everyone finds it funny.
It kind of looks like two people are walking, but it's actually a robot (hence the loud buzzing sound, which only adds to the humor) with a really good sense of balance.
It's really funny when the guy KICKS IT (0:36) and when it's slipping on the ice (1:25), but hey that's just me.
First Post
Just a short intro before I get this blog going.
I'm mostly planning on posting my 3D stuff, maybe some music, any funny videos I find, anything really that catches my attention.
I began 3D last year in my junior year of high school with Blender Foundation, and starting this year I've started using Autodesk Maya since it seemed to be the universal 3D Modeling & Animation program.
I mostly only model inorganic stuff, but I'm still trying to get the hang of Maya so if you're looking for the really good stuff you would have better luck at CGTalk or 3D Total.
So I think that just about sums up the intro. I'll start with posting the older things I did on 3D (Blender) and then move on to the things I'm working on right now. Any constructive criticism or just plain criticism will be much appreciated and I can also be contacted at rightmousebutton@gmail.com.
I don't know if they're really called Render Cards I made that up. Still though, don't you love stuff like this? It's like making your own Pokemon Cards! The bottom right-hand grids are for little memos and notes I can put on each one because I'm going to print them all out (black & white) and put them in sheet protectors and feel great with them all binded up in a three-ring binder.
